Meditation Leads to Greater Pain Relief Than Morphine


More research is needed but the results of a small study done out of Wake Forest is showing that subjects were less sensitive to a standard amount of pain after experiencing meditation and deep relaxation. The participants all had to take a four 20 minute instructional classes on meditation techniques.

For the study, 15 healthy volunteers who had never meditated attended four, 20-minute classes to learn a meditation technique known as focused attention.
