Meditation Retreats In Hawaii

Hawaii is on a path to becoming a world center for holistic healing.  Mindfulness meditation in Hawaii is a perfect fit for the growing awareness that meditation and mindfulness deliver health and happiness to everyone who practices regularly.

The Vipassana meditation techniques taught by Dhamma.org and S.N. Goenka have been taught for 2500 years.  It is claimed that it’s a universal cure for the challenges of life.  I’m not sure I would go that far, but I can tell you that my experience on the ten day course was life-changing and really got me in touch with my inner life. The technique of Vipassana Meditation is taught at ten-day residential courses during which participants learn the basics of the method, and practice sufficiently to experience its beneficial results.

Mindfulness Meditation In Hawaii

Hawaii Vipassana is a group of people who put on meditation courses  and is associated with numerous centers worldwide dedicated to the teaching of Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.

What is Vipassana?

Vipassana is one of India’s most ancient meditation techniques. It is the process of self-purification by self-observation. One begins by observing the natural breath to concentrate the mind. Then, with a sharpened awareness, one proceeds to observe the changing nature of body and mind and experiences the universal truths of impermanence, suffering and egolessness. This truth-realization by direct experience results in mental purification. The technique is a universal remedy for universal problems and has nothing to do with any organized religion or sectarianism. It can be freely practiced by anyone without conflict due to race, community or religion, and will prove equally beneficial to one and all.
You can find out more about the technique by visiting the international Vipassana Meditation Home Page.

Where is Hawaii Vipassana?

Courses are held on the Big Island of Hawaii within a driving distance form Hilo or Kona airports. Shuttles and a rideshare board is available upon registration.

How much does a course cost?

According to the tradition of pure Vipassana, courses are run solely on a donation basis. Donations are accepted only from those who have completed at least one ten-day course with S.N. Goenka or one of his assistant teachers. Someone taking the course for the first time may give a donation on the last day of the course or any time thereafter. Learn more at our website.
